What is the difference between some Dom/sub activities and ABUSE?

Bdsm and D/s relationships are about two people working together to fulfill their mutual needs and desires. Abuse is about someone who has issues or a complete lack of social skills matched with self control and coping issues taking advantage of another person and their weaknesses to do harm for purely selfish and self centered reasons.

  1. The only other thing I can add is that I feel the difference is purpose honesty and consent. Since trust is such a necessary ingredient to a successful and enriching D/s relationship being open and honest with yourself and your partners about your feelings and needs is key for both Dom and sub. Every Dom and sub are different and not every Dom is a good match for every sub. Understanding why the other person in how they are is important to knowing why they do what they do. There is a massive difference between a self centered person who needs to hurt people and a Dom. And a massive difference between an emotionally unbalanced person with security issues and a sub. Sadly these issues tend to play to each other and thus some relationships dubbed as D/s are unhealthy enabling partnerships.
